Indications/Uses
Treatment of type 1 & 2 DM & gestational diabetes; emergency management of diabetic ketoacidosis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
SC Insuget-R Once daily to qid. Insuget-N Once or bid. Insuget 70/30 Once or bid when a rapid effect together w/ a more prolonged effect is desired.
Contraindications
Hypoglycemia, patients in coma due to hyperglycemia.
Special Precautions
Adrenal, pituitary or thyroid diseases; renal/hepatic impairment; emotional disturbances; excessive exercise. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Hypoglycemia, headache, nausea, palpitation. Local & generalized hypersensitivity reactions.
Drug Interactions
Nonselective β-blockers, OCs, octreotide, MAOIs, ACE inhibitors, salicylates, alcohol & alcohol steroids, OCs, thiazides, glucocorticoids, thyroid hormones & sympathomimetics, danazol.
